4 Steps on your Way with Jesus (Children’s Version)

The Cross is your starting point. And if you have given your life to Jesus, then you have made the right decision!

And now it continues. When you gave your life to Jesus, at that moment you (figuratively speaking) took your backpack and emptied it.

In your backpack there has been lots of trash that you don’t need anymore. And you have said, “Jesus, I give it all to you!” You handed all of that to Him. And as I’ve said, there were things in it, which you don’t need anymore (e.g. guilt, emotional wounds etc.).

What Jesus wants to do now is: He wants to fill your backpack with new things!

He would like to give you things you need, such as travelling provisions for your journey in your new life.

Here you can click on the following titles and read the articles:

The order of these steps is not important! You can be baptised first and then get a Bible. Or you could get a Bible first and be baptised later. Decide for yourself (also in prayer with God), what you should do first. But: All of these steps are important for following Jesus.

Another thing: These steps are not necessary for your salvation. In other words: If you have given your life to Jesus (as I explained in the first part), then you’re saved. But these steps are steps out of obedience. You should take them if you want to obey Jesus. Because He does not just simply send you on the journey, He provides your travelling provisions. These steps are to be taken on a voluntary basis, but Jesus is asking you to take them.

But you want to follow Jesus. He is the Good Shepherd, and you want to hear His voice. You want to know what plans He has for you personally (e.g. your personal calling). You want to know what He is saying about you (e.g. your identity in Him). And you want to share experiences with other Christians and, for example, ask them: “What did YOU experience with God?” or: “What does this passage of the Bible mean?” etc.

That’s enough for now about discipleship… Be blessed!

On our website you will find more helpful information about following Jesus.

Just visit:

You’ll also find free downloads, material to share with others and much more!

Now we wish you much joy and many blessings on your journey with Jesus!

Water Baptism (Children’s Version)

This article is one of the “4 Steps on your Way with Jesus”, see overview:

On the subject of water baptism:

  • An important step in your new life with Jesus is the so-called water baptism. Baptism means being immersed in water by another Christian. This is a sign that you have given your life to God and now want to live with Him.
  • In the Bible, we read that people were completely immersed. A sprinkling or splashing with just a little water is not enough. The baptism can be, for example, in nature in a lake, river or in the sea. Or in a swimming pool, in a bathtub, in a paddling pool etc.
  • You don’t need any specific preparation before baptism. You don’t have to study much or become “more sanctified or more holy” before you can be baptised. The first Christians were baptised immediately after their decision for Jesus.
  • You have eternal life from God from the moment when you chose Jesus, gave your life to Him, and invited Him into your heart.
Then you will have your sins forgiven and a sure place in heaven for eternity. This is what happened when you converted to Jesus. This is not something that will only happen with baptism or only when you take other steps.
  • Water baptism symbolises that you died (spiritually) and were buried underwater. When you come out of the water, it symbolically means that you have risen again.
It means that you have a new life from God as a child of God. It symbolises that Jesus rose from the grave on the third day after His crucifixion and came to life again. That happened on the first Easter.
  • Any Christian who is baptised himself can baptise you.
  • A baptism of babies, as it happens in many churches, is not right. Because a baby wasn’t asked before if it wanted to live with God.
  • Children can be baptised if they have made a clear decision for Jesus. There is no specific age limit.
  • Perhaps you will find a congregation (e.g. a free church) or other Christians who can baptise you.
  • Discuss this with your parents too.

Here you will find detailed explanations on this topic: Water Baptism (detailed article)

We wish you much joy and blessings!

Fellowship (Children’s Version)

This article is one of the “4 Steps on your Way with Jesus”, see overview:

On the subject of fellowship:

  • It is also important that you have fellowship with other Christians. So that you meet, spend time together, exchange ideas, pray together etc.
  • This is symbolised by the mobile phone in the drawing. It represents connection with others.
  • If people belong to Jesus, then they have become children of God. That means God Himself is your Father. And if you all have the same father, then you are (spiritually speaking) a family. So you can meet together like a family.
  • Community is important so that you can learn from each other, help each other to live out your faith and help each other in everyday life. And that you can be there for each other. And so that you can have a good time together with God.
  • In the Bible, we read that the first Christians met in homes. That is also possible today. You can see that in the drawing.
  • A meeting can also be in a church if there is a suitable one in your area. There are often meetings of smaller groups, such as youth groups or home groups, which meet at people’s homes.
  • It is important that the other Christians also have the Bible as the basis and that they are open to the work of the Holy Spirit.
  • Discuss this with your parents too.

What can you do together when you have fellowship?

  • It is important that Jesus is the center of attention. It’s about him as a person! And let the Holy Spirit guide you. That is, also ask God what He would like to happen in your meeting.
  • Eating together is usually a good thing!
  • You can read the Bible together and exchange ideas about the text.
  • You can pray together and also pray for each other. So when someone has a specific prayer request. For example when someone needs God`s help in a specific area or has a need. E.g. a sickness or before an important exam etc.
  • It is important that everyone can contribute. And that everyone can contribute and not just the leaders, pastors etc.
  • Everyone can, for example, share something that he (or she) has experienced with God. Or when someone has the impulse that God wants to speak to the group, for example through a passage from the Bible or through a message from the Holy Spirit. Or when someone has received special insight (revelation) from God, for example about a passage in the Bible.
  • You can also watch a Bible film or a Christian film together.
  • In the group, you can worship God together with Christian songs or music. This is also called “praise”. There are also modern Christian songs. This can be singing and making music together if someone plays an instrument. But you can also play christian music from CD, MP3 or YouTube.
  • Maybe it will help you to play Christian music and everyone will seek and meet God on their own. You can worship God in the way that suits you, guided by the Holy Spirit.
  • Meet as often as suits you. Maybe once a week, maybe more or less often.
  • You can also meet for “normal leisure activities” and not just for “spiritual meetings”. But ask Jesus about it.
Also ask him where you should go outside. Perhaps outside He’ll will lead you to people who you can tell about Jesus, who need your prayers, etc. The Holy Spirit can also guide you in this.

Here you will find the detailed explanations on this topic: Fellowship (detailed article)

We wish you much joy and blessings!

Bible (Children’s Version)

This article is one of the “4 Steps on your Way with Jesus”, see overview:

About the Bible:

  • The Bible is a book that is very important to Christians. It is the written “Word of God” that God gave to man.
  • The first part of the Bible is called “the Old Testament” and describes the history of God with man before Jesus came into the world.
The second part of the Bible is called “the New Testament”. It begins just before Jesus was born, describing His life and ministry, His crucifixion, resurrection and ascension. The New Testament also describes the life of the first Christians over a period of about 40 years after Jesus’ ascension.
  • You should start reading the Bible in the New Testament. Preferably, with one of the four gospels. Gospels are reports about the life of Jesus in which many of His words to the people were written down.
  • In the New Testament you will also find the Acts of the Apostles about the first decades of Christianity. And letters from apostles to the churches or congregations of that time. Apostles are teachers, so to speak, whom Jesus sent to the people. Most of these were His close friends when He was in the world.
  • In the Bible you will find many tips for your practical life with Jesus, for your everyday life.
  • The Bible is like a map that guides you on your way through life.
  • In the Bible, you can see what God is like and what Jesus is like. Jesus Himself is God and He, the Father and the Holy Spirit are one.
You can see and get to know God’s or Jesus’ essence, His character. And you can see what His plan is for you and for the people. You also see what His will is, i.e. how He would decide. What would Jesus do?
  • There are Bible translations that are easy to read. There are also children’s bibles with explanations and pictures. You can also find audio Bibles online.
  • If you read the Bible again and again, you will learn how to live with Jesus. You can get to know Him better and better. And you will also experience how He has changed you and how He wants to change you even further. Because when you converted to Jesus, you have received a new nature from God inwardly (or “spiritually”). You have (so to speak) become born again as a child of God.
  • You can also share what you read in the Bible with other Christians. You can also read the Bible together.
  • God speaks through the Bible, but also directly to people through the Holy Spirit. God speakts through impressions directly into your mind or through acoustically audible words, through images, through visions and through dreams. He can also speak to you through other people.
The impressions must not contradict the written Word of God. The Bible is infallible, and it is the standard by which we test prophetic impressions.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and help you read the Bible. You can hear God’s voice. And He can explain it to you if you don’t understand something in the Bible.
  • If you have questions about a Bible text, ask God in prayer what that means.
  • You don’t have to understand everything right away! Just keep reading. A lot you will quickly understand and be able to remember. And some things will become clear to you later.
  • You can also read some sections more than once, for example one of the four gospels or one of the epistles (letters).

Here you will find detailed explanations on this topic: Bible (detailed article)

We wish you much joy and blessings.

Spirit Baptism (Children’s Version)

This article is one of the “4 Steps on your Way with Jesus”, see overview:

On the subject of Spirit baptism:

  • You can imagine your walk with Jesus as a long hike. And on a hike, you need water. We have represented this as a symbol with the water bottle.
  • The water is symbolic and figurative of the Holy Spirit that God gives to those who belong to Him.
  • The Holy Spirit is also God, but He is also a Person of His own. This is called the “Trinity”. God is three persons, the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. And yet they are one.
  • If you have given your life to Jesus, then the Holy Spirit has come into you and lives in you.
  • But you can also be filled and refreshed by the Holy Spirit again and again. It’s like drinking “living water” from God over and over again on your hike.
And you can really feel it!
  • And then there is the so-called “baptism in the Holy Spirit” or “Spirit Baptism”. Sinde the moment when you gave your life to Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives in you. And you can let Him fill you again and again. And in addition to that you can get the baptism of the Spirit.
Figuratively speaking, you are then bubbling over and flowing over with the “living water of the Holy Spirit”.
  • When you are baptised in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit descends on you from heaven, He comes over you, He envelops you completely. You are immersed in Him, so to speak, just like at the water baptism. But at the same time, the Holy Spirit flows powerfully out of you and through you!
  • This strength and power of the Holy Spirit can also be represented visually with the flame of fire on the head. We find that in the Bible at the first Pentecost.
  • Through the baptism in the Holy Spirit, you can release God’s supernatural power into the world. Heaven can thereby touch the earth through you. And God can intervene, also through you and through your prayer. You can use the power of the Holy Spirit to serve and help people.
  • Children too have received the same Holy Spirit as adults.
  • When people are sick, you can lay hands on them and pray in the name of Jesus for the sickness to go away. You can also pray for pain to go away.
  • When people are oppressed and weighed down by something (e.g. in their soul), then you can pray in the name of Jesus that it will go away and not come back. Through the baptism of the Spirit, Jesus gave you the power to send such oppressions away. These can be fears, depressions, nightmares, etc.
  • And then there is also “prayer in the Spirit” or “praying in tongues”, “speaking in tongues” or “praying or speaking in NEW languages” etc.
This means (among other things) that God gives you a prayer language that you have not learned in the natural. A language which you (in most cases) cannot understand yourself, either. The Holy Spirit is giving you this language and you can speak it.
  • But praying in tongues is also a visible sign that someone has been baptised in the Spirit.
  • Here you can find an audio sample, but your praying in tongues can also sound completely different: Praying in tongues Audio sample as mp3
You can also sing in the Spirit. This is called “singing in the Spirit” or “singing in tongues”. Here you can find an audio sample: Heavenly Sounds as mp3
  • Praying in tongues is also a “secret” prayer language between you and God.
  • You may not understand it, but God understands! You pour your heart out to Him. But sometimes you also know in yourself, in your spirit, what these words mean.
  • Through the baptism of the Spirit, you can help other people, but it is also a powerful experience of God’s presence for you. It is a tangible filling with God’s spirit. God himself gives you strength and changes you positively. And speaking in tongues will help you with that.
When praying in the spirit, you open yourself to God and “drink” from Him as if from a fresh spring.

How to receive the baptism of the Spirit:

  • It is important that you really want it, that is, that you are hungry for it.
  • You can ask God for the baptism of the Spirit. Again and again, until you receive it!
  • Or you can ask other Christians who have already been baptised in the Spirit to lay their hands on you. And that they pray for the baptism of the Spirit. The first Christians did the same.
  • A simple prayer is enough, in which you tell God that you also want to pray in tongues.
And then just worship Him, first in your native tongue and expect that the the new prayer languages will then flow as you pray. Do not do this with pressure, but direct your focus on Jesus.
For some people the words will flow out immediately, with others it starts with a single word or short sentence. It is also often the case that you already hear the words in your mind and then start to say them out loud. Then a “flow” can start, so that more words are flowing out.
  • Just say out loud what comes. Even if it might sound funny. Or if it’s always the same words or repeatedly the same 1-2 syllables. Speak it out and trust God to put the prayer language in your mouth.
  • You can also watch this video of prayer for Spirit baptism and to receive your prayer language:

To the video:

(External link to the video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HppT3sKiztw )

(The video contains English subtitles as a translation for the German text. The subtitles can be activated or deactivated by clicking on the “Captions” icon.)

And if it takes a little longer, just hang in there! God still loves you no more and no less, whether you have received the prayer in tongues or not.

We wish you much joy and blessings!
