What We Believe (Statement Of Faith)

Faith MFY

First: Why we believe

Maybe you first want to read our personal stories (testimonies) in which we tell how we came to faith.

You can also find both stories here: How the Message is changing our own Lives

What We Believe

Here you can see a summary of the christian faith:

The Heavenly Father

The Heavenly Father loves every single human being. He is holy and righteous and therefore sin seperates humans from God. But the Father doesn’t want His children to perish but to repent to HIM and be saved. That is why JESUS came to die in place of us for our sins (fault). As His children we can say “Dad” to Him with full confidence and enjoy all treasures of His kingdom – now!

JESUS

JESUS came as a human like us into this world, but without sin. Because He was without sin, He could die for our sins on the Cross. He is the “Lamb of God”. He loves us! Everybody who gives his life to Him and accepts His sacrifice on the Cross is saved and will come to heaven after death. JESUS is our saviour, best friend, lover and almighty LORD who has given us the power over evil.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a person and no nondescript mystic power. He wants to be recognised as a person, communicate with us and to be loved like we also love the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit dwells inside of those who have given their life to JESUS. He is the promised Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Paraklete) of JESUS, who will never leave us. He gives us His power, wants to change us and glorify JESUS. He also gives us gifts, the so-called gifts of the Holy Spirit (spiritual gifts) to serve other people.

The Trinity of God

This is difficult to explain because our human mind can’t understand it.
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are ONE – ONE God, but three persons…
This is no mathematical logic, but nothing is impossible for God. A simple explanation: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit have a strong unity and yet they are disctinct persons. You can’t seperate them! The Father glorifies the Son, the Son glorifies the Father, the Holy Spirit glorifies JESUS… This unity, the Trinity, is a secret for us until we will stand before God.

And also important: The Trinity is no “hierarchy”! Every person is almighty, not more and not less.

The work on the Cross

As explained before, JESUS came as a human in this world to die for our fault in place of us. Now it is up to us if we accept this gift (the sacrifice) or if we reject it. Somebody who is still unsure and doesn’t know how to decide, has already decided: Because we are lost without JESUS and on the way to death. That is why it is so important that we accept JESUS! Please read John 3, 16 on this. “Meditate” about it, consider the Bible passage and consider for yourself how you decide. But be aware that there are only two decisions.
More on this in the message!

The Bible

The Bible is the written word of God and we believe that it is without fail. God speaks through the Bible to us, into our lifes. The Bible is so to speak the “manual for life”. We have to test teachings and (prophetic) impressions if they are in accordance with the Bible. If something is not in accordance with His word, then it is probably not from God. Because the message of the Bible is clearly: The Bible shows us God’s nature and good character and His will for our life.

Water Baptism

After their conversion the persons should be baptised. A baptism before the conversion (e.g. baptism of children) is not biblical. Read it in the New Testament: The Christians were baptised after accepting JESUS as their LORD – not before their conversion. The immersion in water symbolises the dying of the “Old Man”, the dying of the old life.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We believe that the baptism in the Holy Spirit (Spirit Baptism) is an important step that every Christian should take. The gift of speaking in tongues is the sign of the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
More on this topic in the article Spirit Baptism.
More on it also in the article 10 Reasons for Speaking and Praying in Tongues.

The gifts and the work of the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit still gives presents to His children (see 1. Corinthians 12-14!). These presents are the 9 spiritual gifts, including healing, prophecy and speaking in tongues. They are for the edification of His children and in the service of humanity.
We also believe in signs and wonders like the first Christians experienced it.

The Body of Christ / The Bride of Christ

“The Body of Christ” means all people who have given their life to JESUS. It is also called the “Bride if Christ”. As children of God we have a strong unity and should also live in this unity. Unfortunately there are many different denominations and so there is a lot of hurt in the Body of Christ. Someone said: “The Bride of JESUS has a self-harming behavior…”. The unity is actually often attacked. As Christians we should practise charity. Because Jesus said clearly: “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (see John 13, 35) The love of JESUS wants to flow to our fellow human beings. His love is the greatest power and outsiders will recognise that.

Eternal life after death

Life does not end after death. Though our body is mortal, our spirit will live on. A person that has accepted JESUS as his or her LORD is saved and will live in His kingdom forever. But a person that did not accept JESUS will be lost forever.

JESUS will come back (The Second Coming of Christ)

After his resurrection, JESUS returned to heaven. From there He will come to judge this world. No one can know the day and time. A “prophet” who claims to know the date or even claims to be JESUS, has made a false prophecy.

Read what JESUS Himself said about this:

“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”
(Matthew 24, 36-39)

“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand. So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”
(Matthew 24, 23-27)

“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.”
(Johannes 12, 46-48)

The Great Commission – Spread the best message of the world!

Our heart burns for Jesus and that every person has the chance to experience Him.

We respect the free will of every person and we do not “force” people to accept Jesus. God has given each of us a free will. So we can either decide for Him or reject Him.

But we want to show people that a real relationship with God is the better way! We want to explain them in the message of this website who Jesus is, what He has done for them and how they can be saved through Him.

The Great Commandment of Jesus is:

“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
(Mark 16, 15-16)

And Jesus also spoke about the signs that will follow His disciples:

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

“So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.”
(Mark 16, 17-20)

We also share the Apostles’ Creed, which is shared by most Christians:

“I believe in God the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived from the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary,
who suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried,
descended into hell, rose again from the dead on the third day,
ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty,
who will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.”
