Merry Christmas! (2022)

Dear readers,

we wish you all a Merry Christmas 2022!

This time is about Jesus Christ.

He is the centre of everything!

Christmas and hope

If we look at the world at this time, then a lot of it looks rather dark and gloomy. At this time of year, the nights are longest in the Northern Hemisphere. The days are short, which means there is less (natural) light at this time of the year.

The world also looks darker than in many other years. There is still a war going on in Ukraine. Many people have fled to other countries or regions.
Many have to spend the winter in Ukraine. For many people, this means power outages, damaged flats and houses, heating failures and the constant threat of air raids.

There is also strong inflation (price increases) in many countries, shortages of natural gas, food, medicine etc.
And the corona pandemic is not yet completely over.
Times are looking a little darker than usual.

Even in the time about 2,000 years ago when Jesus Christ came into the world, it also looked dark and gloomy. Especially in Galilee, where Jesus grew up and later worked a lot.
Jesus came into the world as Light (see John 1:9). People need Him and His Light … then and now.

A verse from the Bible:

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.”
(Isaiah 9:2 NIV)

What Christmas is really about

In Luke 2:10-11 (NIV) an angel announces the birth of Jesus to the shepherds:

“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.
Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

Christmas means that Jesus Christ came into this world as a man. He came to reconcile us to God. On the cross, Jesus carried everything that stood and could ever stand between us and God. He paid for our guilt and sin. He took it upon Himself because He loves us.

And Jesus made a way for all people to come to God through Him.

Jesus offers people the Eternal Life (salvation) as a free gift. But everyone decides for themselves whether they want to accept and unwrap the gift.

A verse from the Bible:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
(John 3:16 NIV)

It is therefore important that you have accepted what Jesus did for you on the cross and that you have accepted and unwrapped the gift, so to speak.

If you haven’t already done so, do so now.

Here you can also read the message online, with colourful pictures:

By the way: The children’s version is also good for passing on to adults, because it has the same text as the version for adults.
The children’s version contains colourful drawings that vividly depict the history of salvation and the gospel.

You can share and forward the Gift

After the shepherds were at the manger in Luke 2, and they had seen and experienced Jesus themselves, they shared and passed on the message. So to speak, they passed on the gift:

“When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child”
(Luke 2:17 NIV)

That’s why the Christmas season is a good time to reach people with the message of the Gospel.

So you can use this time to pass the message on to others who don’t know Jesus yet.

You can use the evangelistic message from Message For You! and pass it on to other people. Here you can read it online with colourful pictures:
